Panasonic collaborates with Google Home to enable the next-generation home security solutions
Tokyo, Japan, October 6, 2026 – Panasonic Corporation (“Panasonic”) today announced that it has entered into a collaboration agreement with Google to enable smart homes that deliver both advanced and efficient security.
By combining Panasonic’s expertise in residential video intercoms and monitoring cameras with Google’s strengths in generative AI and cloud services, the companies aim to develop next-generation home security solutions that address the increasingly diverse lifestyles and evolving security requirements. The solutions will use video and data analysis to detect unusual events, identify trends, adapt to users’ lifestyles, and continuously enhance security functions.
In recent years, crimes involving home invasions in Japan have become increasingly sophisticated and violent. As security awareness grows, the need for more advanced home security measures is greater than ever. In addition to the growing number of dual‑income and elderly households, the shift toward smaller households—including people living alone or in two‑person households—continues. As a result, there is a growing need not only for monitoring while residents are away, but also for the early detection of security risks and measures suited to each user’s living environment. At the same time, although people recognize the importance of security, some are unsure where to begin when implementing security measures, while others find the frequency of alerts—including anomaly‑detection notifications—and the need to review camera footage burdensome. Reducing this burden while improving home security has therefore become a key challenge.
Through this collaboration Panasonic will integrate Google Home services and intelligence with IoT devices such as residential video intercoms and monitoring cameras to develop next‑generation home security solutions that serve a broad range of users—from those beginning to implement security measures to those seeking more advanced protection. The companies will conduct joint development focusing on the following four themes.
